Notice how God's faithfulness is foundational to anyone who desires to obey the commandto "hold the fort". "Forwe are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfastunto the end" (3:14). These Primitive Christians needed encouragement to persevere, though they had "not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin" (12:4). "But Christ asa Son over His own house whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidenceand the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end" (Hebrews 3:6). Perhaps some are unaware of our necessity to cooperate in our own perseverance infaith, holiness, and righteousness for, it's necessity can be clearly seen in theEpistle to the Hebrews. The LORD Jesus said, "And ye shall be hated of all men for My name's sake: but hethat endureth to the end shall be saved" (Matthew 10:22). Here is such a thing as the Perseverance of the Saints,that is, that the True Saints must and will continue in a righteous walk until theend. "Thou hast cast all my sins behind Thyback" (Isaiah38:17).
"For I willbe merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will Iremember no more" (Hebrews8:12). "Asfar as the east is from the west, so far hath He removed our transgressions fromus" (Psalm 103:12). This Judgment Seat of Christ is also commonly known as the Bema Seat Judgment ofChrist, where the Saints' works will be judged to determine the nature of their Heavenlyreward- without any mention of punishment for already penitently confessed, Divinelyforgiven, and Providentially forgotten sins. And, since "God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love,which ye have shewed toward His name" (Hebrews 6:10), He has appointeda time that "wemust all appear before the Judgment Seat of Christ that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hathdone, whether it be good or bad " (2Corinthians 5:10). Our gratitude for this "So Great Salvation" (Hebrews 2:3) results in a "faith which worketh by love" (Galatians 5:6). "Forby grace are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves: it is the gift ofGod" (Ephesians2:8).
